Flange bolts are a type of bolt designed with an integral washer-like flange beneath the bolt head. This flange serves to distribute the load over a wider area, the main advantage of which is their resistance to loosening under vibration. This can be critical in applications where safety and reliability are paramount. The flange negates the need for a washer.
